This is not a post about resolutions. I have said it before, but I feel resolutions set me up for failure. I’m old enough to know that the strike of midnight on the 1st does not change me into a more productive and put-together version of myself. I do know though, that a clean slate does wonders for the soul and my mental state- so I just focus on that. I focus on waking up everyday and trying to be better than I was the day before and that is something that does stay consistent.

I try to set myself up for success by getting myself as organized as I possibly can. I recently found out about, an incredible site that takes all of your subscriptions and lets you unsubscribe all at once or you can add it to your “daily/weekly or monthly roll-up” so you have everything in one tidy place. I also purge unwanted items, old bills and I clean out the fridge. I reassess my budget if I need to (I always need to) and I make sure that I have something fun planned for the first day of the new year so that it starts out the best that it can.

The last thing I did, is write a letter to myself to open on the same day the next year. This year, I wrote it on the 27th. I talked about how I was feeling at that very moment, about the last few months and how they have been, I told myself positive things that happened this year and I wrote down my little goals that I hope to achieve by the time I open that letter back up. I sealed it and put it in a safe place. It was cathartic and really, kind of fun to do.

The new year is exciting and full of hope. My only advice is to be kind to yourself, treat yourself like you would your best friend, follow the advice you give and make time for yourself. Make time to tell the people in your life that you love them and show them by your actions. Eat well, travel often (if that is what you like to do) and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Just BE, ya know?

Wanderful Lifestyle is back and this year I’ll be focusing more on relationships, both platonic and romantic-but of course, there will still be lots of food involved! So check back in with me from time to time, I can’t wait to share what’s in store for 2017!
